The Reality Defence course is an active introduction to self protection and personal safety. In addition
to an overview of the psychological and physiological demands of self protection, the student will learn and practice practical techniques to fend off armed and unarmed attackers. Based on the
Israeli martial art of Krav Maga, Reality Defence is suitable for anyone who needs to learn effective ways to prevent or best survive physically threatening situations.
There are eight class modules
covering a variety of techniques. Each is designed to give a practical overview of defence methods that can realistically be used in a Reality Defence encounter. Review of techniques and additional aspects
of psychology will be presented throughout the course and are essential to completing the program. Together the eight modules will cover the most common forms of attacks on individuals.
The course
teaches the following response for dealing with an attack situation:
1. Why attacks happen
2. What to say and what not to say
3. What to do and what not to do
4. When to do it and when not to do it
The course will equip the student to reduce risk of attack, recognise when a situation becomes an attack, asses the level of threat and understand how to identify and use an appropriate level of
response. Participants will be able to form a strategy and will learn effective techniques to defend themselves in real-life situations.
